An anti-theft device for tablets keeps a display tablet in place while customers use it. The GRiPZO tablet lock is fully mechanical: hardened steel grips hold the tablet on its edges, and staff release it with a unique key in seconds. No alarms, cables or sensors.
Three types of tablet lock
| Type | How it secures the tablet | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cable lock | A steel cable ties the tablet to a fixed point. The tablet can still be picked up and moved. | Short-term use with low risk |
| Enclosure | A closed case around the tablet. Often covers the edges and buttons. | Unattended kiosks |
| Mechanical grip holder (GRiPZO) | Steel grips hold the tablet on a fixed mount. Released only with a key. | Retail displays, point of sale, hospitality and public transport |
When a grip holder is the right lock
- The tablet is used by customers or guests. The screen, camera and buttons stay free.
- The tablet has to come out often. Staff release it with a unique key, for example at closing time or to take an order at a table.
- You do not want to depend on electronics. The lock is purely mechanical, with no alarm or sensor.
- Tablet models change. The grips are set with 3 mm Allen screws and take tablets up to 10 mm thick.
Sizes and mounting
The standard holder fits tablets from 7 to 11 inches. The XL holder fits 12 to 13 inches. Both turn to portrait or landscape, and both are fixed with security screws, studs and nuts, or two-component adhesive pads. See all tablet security mounts.
Tablets in a protective case
In production halls and public transport, tablets often sit in a bumper case. Standard grips are too low for that. GRiPZO has higher grip sets of 20, 26 and 37 mm, so the tablet is locked with its case on.
Where GRiPZO tablet locks are used
- Electronics retail: demo tablets on the shop floor.
- Point of sale: a tablet as till or self-service screen.
- Restaurants and hotels: ordering and check-in tablets.
- Buses and public transport: tablets for drivers and passengers.
- Trade shows and AV rental: tablets that move from event to event.

Frequently asked questions
Can a locked tablet still be charged?
Yes. The charging cable can run through the pole of the mount, out of reach of customers.
Does the lock fit every tablet?
It fits tablets from 7 to 13 inches and up to 10 mm thick, from any brand. The grips are adjustable, so the mount stays in use when you replace the tablet.
