Portable Kiosks
Portable Kiosks are an innovative way of engaging with an audience, be it for retail or informative purposes. They can be employed by a wide range of organisations, such as; pop-up retail stores, charities on a campaign to raise awareness, at trade shows or for marketing campaigns in airports and other public areas. A portable kiosk, by nature, has to be adaptable. They accommodate to any requirement and thus have to be light and portable. However they must also withstand intense use, in relatively short and concentrated periods of time.
The revolution or portable kiosks
Thankfully with the advent of electronic tablets, the world of portable kiosks has been revolutionised. They offer a powerful display, capable of running many applications to suit every need in a very compact package. Most importantly the touch screen function encourages interaction! This revolution now means that the kiosk itself becomes more of a stand that encompasses and protects the tablet. Choosing the right tablet, with the most secure, yet functional stand and fixtures is what makes the perfect portable kiosk. Purchasing an Apple iPad, seen as the best tablet, and then simply placing it on a table at a trade show, does not constitute a portable kiosk; best case scenario the public will assume it belongs to the person at the stand and not interact with it, and worst case scenario it will have disappeared (very quickly if left unattended).
The right combination
If we now imagine, a well designed and sleek stand, with an iPad or tablet set at the correct angle towards the public, housed in a secure fixing. Anyone would be immediately intrigued by what the kiosk has to offer. Importantly, the public would be intrigued in the correct manner, any would-be-opportunists would know that they could not even attempt to walk away with the device.
Even though portable kiosks are now relatively inexpensive, they are still an invaluable asset in terms of the benefits it represents for the user.
