iPad in a wall
Where can iPads be placed? Frankly anywhere and everywhere, an interesting application however is within a wall. Why? As our buildings and living spaces get smarter, more and more can be done through the control of an iPad.
In a domestic environment iPads can control anything from the thermostat, to the entertainment, to the lights. In offices they can be used to control but also to display! And in public spaces they can be used as spaces for display and advertisement, as well as information. The key point about iPads and tablets, as a whole is their versatility. An application can be created to perform pretty much any task imaginable, even order the weekly shopping. They offer a touch screen interface and connection to the internet that makes them more than just a keypad.
In private or in public?
Great consideration has to be taken when evaluating the environment the iPad will be in. In a home it will have vastly different requirements than in a public space. As such the correct enclosure has to be chosen carefully. An iPad mounted on the wall of a house does not have to worry about theft, whilst in public spaces it is a very real danger. In our strive for ever more efficient, and smart buildings, we will find more iPads mounted on walls. The benefits they offer are only limited by human imagination. Unfortunately there are also opportunists out there that are also keeping an eye on such innovation.
However the safe and secure enclosures exist to eradicate any such worries and allow the development and incorporation of iPads and devices into our buildings.
